SMS messaging is a service that is included in many mobile phones, even the latest mobile phones. SMS stands for ‘Short Messaging Service’ and is usually known as a ‘text message’. It is used by many people all over the world as a fast and effective way to get information across and is also a standard on cheap mobile phones.

All new mobile phones support SMS, and it is one of the oldest features on mobile devices. Some form of text messaging is available on all new phones, but lately it is not always offered by SMS, but by others, though SMS remains the most widely used of all messaging services.

When you are choosing new mobile phones, you will not have to check if it has SMS, as it is usually a standard. No matter if it’s cheap mobile phones or new phones that you choose, whether it is an old one from ten years ago, or the very latest, you are almost definitely guaranteed it will have SMS.

One of the features of many of the latest mobile phones, is the ‘Delivery Notice’, which can be found in the phone’s messaging settings. Selecting this feature means that when you send an SMS, you will get a short message to say it has been delivered, or if it has failed, allowing you to send another if it has.

Many large phone and network providers in the UK offer special deals that allows for free SMS. This is usually a featured part of a pay monthly contract, and depending on the package, can allow for unlimited messaging, though it is more usual for there to be a few hundred free messages.
